Money and Matrimony The cost of a wedding, New York and Indiana style
by Rachel Klein
According to Modern Bride magazine, couples spend an average of $20,000 on their weddings. We decided to check that figure with two wedding coordinators. The following information is based on a Saturday night wedding “in season” (June - September). It assumes a sit-down dinner for 150 people. These figures do not include the bride and groom’s attire, wedding rings, transportation, gifts for the wedding party, rehearsal dinner, post-wedding brunch, tips, corsages, celebrant fees and therapy.
